Around the turn of the year the agenda mixes three kinds of outings: the Silvester runs (Saarbrücken on 27 December, Rambrouch in the Luxembourg Ardennes and Trier on 31 December), the hotel and casino evenings that publish a menu, a price and a start time, and the theatres and concert halls, from Candide at the Grand Théâtre on New Year's Eve to the New Year's concerts in Metz, Esch-sur-Alzette, Trier and Saarbrücken.
Fireworks: Luxembourg City's general police regulation forbids throwing or setting off “fulminating or explosive” materials in public streets and squares (article 46 of the version of 16 April 2024 published on vdl.lu), with an administrative fine of 25 to 250 euros (article 61). The Grand Ducal Police adds that many communal regulations ban fireworks on the public road without the mayor's authorisation, and that only categories F1 (from age 12) and F2 (from age 18) are sold to the public (law of 27 May 2016). On 21 October 2026 no official city fireworks display for New Year's Eve had been announced on vdl.lu.
